Broadcast Production

EditShare is already in use around the world by broadcast professionals.

The broadcast workflow used with a shared storage solution offers significant benefits for fast-turnaround television (and web) content.

Ingest:

  • News and promos tapes are ingested into lower cost digitizing systems and made instantly available to all editors and journalists.
  • Satellite and link feeds are ingested and also made available to all edit suites.

Journo Stations:

  • Can be simple/lower cost workstations and may have read-only access to wilds.
  • The journalist makes shot selection.
  • Checks timing of shots against story read rate.
  • May cut the basic story on the desktop workstation.
  • All digitized material streams directly from EditShare to their desktop without having to encode to other formats.

Graphics:

Graphic artists prepare the images and animation content and store on a shared workspace on the EditShare system.

Playout:

The completed story is checked and then is ready to be played out to tape or sent to a playout server.

Archive:

Stories or wilds can be transferred easily to an archive server for later use.

A cataloguing and search tool provides access to the files in readiness to be moved back online when/if required.

Web News/Podcasting:

Content used in daily news or current affairs can be easily re-purposed. By connecting a media encoding workstation to EditShare, stories and content can be converted immediately they arrive in ‘watch folders”. The completed web files can be sent (via FTP or other methods) to the website developer or straight to the webserver.
